The person who made and managed the booking(s) (or designated contact) needs to be available throughout the exam(s) in case they need to support LAMDA Stewards or Examiners, as well as parents/Learners.

Devices: Learners will need to use an electronic device for their exam (computer, laptop/ tablet or Android phone/ iPhone). Learners must use a device with an integrated camera and microphone. External and/or specialist audio and visual equipment is not permitted.

Please ensure the following:

  • The Learner(s) and anyone present on the day assisting them are familiar with the device before use
  • All apps/ system updates are installed prior to the exam
  • The device is placed on a level and stable surface
  • If using a phone, that it is switched to “Do Not Disturb”
  • The microphone is enabled and can pick up the Learner’s voice
  • The camera is enabled
  • The device is fully charged or plugged in to a mains supply for the whole event
  • No other applications or windows are open on the device other than Zoom
  • All notifications are turned off
  • Blurred backgrounds, ‘Center Stage’, ‘autoframing’ or similar effects are disabled. Please note that the Learner will not be assessed if these are active, and a credit note or free reschedule will not be issued if the exam does not go ahead because these are turned on.

Although they are not compulsory, we would also recommend the Learner has earphones or headphones in case they are needed for the knowledge section of the exam.

Wi-Fi: ROA exams take place live on Zoom (online platform). There must be a strong, continuous WiFi connection and internet access.

Recommendation: please check both the device camera and the app camera have no additional effects turned on as they can impact one another.
