Acting

For Learners who love understanding and portraying characters from dramatic works of theatre and film.

For Grades 1-5, Learners can take this exam in a Solo, Duo or Combined format. 

For Entry Level  and Grades 6 - 8, Learners can take this exam in a Solo or Duo format.

Devising Drama

For Learners who enjoy creating their own dramatic work and presenting it to an audience. Available in Solo and Duo formats.

Miming

For Learners who are passionate about physical theatre and telling a story without the use of words. Available in Solo and Duo formats.

COMMUNICATION SYLLABUS
Speaking Verse and Prose

For Learners who want to bring life to works of prose and poetry and want to further understand the rhythm and shape of an authors’ writing.

Reading for Performance

For Learners who enjoy reading pieces of poetry and prose and conveying their meaning through performance, as part of a recital based around a chosen theme.

Speaking in Public

For Learners who are keen to create a presentation based on a subject they are passionate about, and sharing their interests with an imagined audience.

SOLO/DUO MUSICAL THEATRE SYLLABUS

For Learners who enjoy understanding and portraying characters through song by performing pieces taken from works of musical theatre or film musicals, either as a solo candidate or with a partner.

INTRODUCTORY SYLLABUS

For Learners who want to gain an initial exam experience as a solo candidate (Solo Introductory) or as a group (Group Introductory). In addition to preparing and performing a poem, Learners taking these exams will have to engage with the Examiner by:

  • maintaining a conversation (Solo Introductory)
  • playing a drama game (Group Introductory)

GROUP EXAMS SYLLABUS

For Learners who enjoy performing as a group: 

  • a mix of works of verse, prose and dramatic texts, as part of a recital based around a chosen theme (Group Recital)
  • pieces of poetry and prose (Group Choral Speaking)
  • dramatic scenes of film and theatre (Group Acting)
  • their own dramatic work (Group Devising Drama)
  • works of musical theatre (Group Musical Theatre)
