Whether or not to apply for a Reasonable Adjustment is a personal choice and something that should be discussed with the learner and/or their parent/guardian.
When gathering information for an application, we suggest considering the points below.
- What are the challenges faced by the Learner and how does it affect their ability to take a fair examination? Include consideration of:
Speech, Language and Processing
Physical and movement impairments
Sensory impairments – e.g. Hearing or Sight
Behaviours – Fidgeting, stimming, tics
- What would the Examiner need to know to ensure the Learner’s experience of the exam room is positive?
- What would facilitate a calm and stress-free environment for the Learner?
- What are the Learners wishes in relation to the particular examination?
- What equipment/medical devices may a Learner need to take into the examination room (ie a phone being needed to track insulin levels)
Whilst our RA team are always happy to offer advice on the types of adjustments that may support your Learner, we do not know your individual Learner as you do. All of the information that you give to us on the application form is considered in order for us to make an assessment of what adjustments we are able to offer.
